2021 Virtual Fair offers A Taste of Western Fair Through Online Competitions & September Events
September is fast approaching and that means the end of summer, the return of school, and the start of the Western Fair…. or at least it did prior to the pandemic.
With 2021 large gatherings still affected by pandemic safety protocols, and the continued service of the Agriplex as a London Health Sciences Centre field hospital and vaccination centre for southwestern Ontario’s pandemic response plan, the Western Fair Association cancelled the annual fair and modified its 2021 fair offerings once again to compliment health and safety protocols and phases. “2021 allows for a bit more freedom to offer a taste of the Western Fair throughout September,” said Greg Blanchard, WFA Media Spokesperson. “Annually each summer we offer a very popular Park It At The Market event, which is an outdoor market inside Queens Park adjacent to Western Fair’s Market. We plan to enhance that outdoor experience by adding a taste of the Western Fair to a few evenings throughout the month of September.” said Blanchard.
A Taste of Western Fair added to September - Park It A The Market
Park It At The Market will have a Taste of Western Fair added to its September mix, while it continues to provide a safe, fun, outdoor family market every Wednesday and Thursday through the summer.
A Taste of Western Fair will feature local food trucks to embrace some fair food favourites, shopping in the park and fantastic vendors in a beautiful outdoor setting. Watch for upcoming announcements as September approaches highlighting a selection of fair entertainment, special guests, mini horses, and music joining each evening to add a little fair flair. (Outdoor capacity/attendance will be monitored at these events and line-ups to enter may occur.)
September Park It At The Market events will be extra special with a Taste of Western Fair added to Wednesday and Thursday Evenings, September 8/9, 15/16, 22/23, 28/29, 2021.

Virtual Agri-Food School Tours
The annual Agri-Food School Tours are also happening virtually this year from the 13th to 17th of September. Western Fair has teamed up again with many of our amazing resource partners: Growing Chefs! Ontario, Farm & Food Care Ontario, Ontario Federation of Agriculture, AgScape and several of the province’s top commodity groups to deliver V-PODS (Virtual Places of Discovery) where participants can learn about each industry through videos, activities, Q & A and more. Teachers, Parents and Students can register at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/virtual-school-ag-tours-registration-1665247…
We are disappointed to share the news that the Western Fair has been cancelled for 2021.
The Western Fair District Agriplex remains the site of an LHSC field hospital and vaccination centre, and with the safety of our staff and community as the top priority, our Board and management realized we would not be able to produce the Western Fair the way in which we have been entrusted to do so by our community, and those that built it.
We are optimistic we will be able to welcome more visitors to our site this September and to bring you some of the traditional elements of the annual fair in a community celebration. The Creative Arts competition and Rise 2 Fame have been launched online again and planning is underway for the 2022 Fair which we hope to make one of our best ever!
